La lingua dei segni: a che punto siamo?

La lingua dei segni è una lingua naturale ma, soprattutto, una lingua a tutti gli effetti, dal momento che assicura una comunicazione piena e completa; essa può essere acquisita dal bambino sordo anche precocemente e ha un ruolo determinante nel suo sviluppo cognitivo e sociale, aiutandolo a conoscere il mondo e a muoversi con sempre maggiori gradi di autonomia. Inoltre, ha una correlazione molto forte anche con l’apprendimento della lingua orale e scritta.

La lingua italiana dei segni possiede un proprio sistema linguistico che utilizza la modalità visivo-gestuale, invece di quella acustico-vocale propria delle lingue vocali: come tutte le lingue, la si può imparare a qualsiasi età, in un contesto di provenienza in cui è quasi sempre presente l’italiano. Ci sono dei bambini, sia sordi che udenti, che sono esposti a questa lingua fin da piccoli, altri che hanno modo di impararla in un percorso scolastico bilingue che permetta, appunto, una partecipazione autentica e paritaria da parte di tutti i bambini. 

Ma la si può apprendere con assoluta naturalezza anche da ragazzi o da adulti: in moltissimi paesi, la Lingua dei segni viene regolarmente insegnata nelle scuole, in modo da creare fin da subito le condizioni sociali e relazionali per una effettiva inclusione; d’altronde, come per ogni lingua, è sufficiente un po’ di esercizio per renderla un’esperienza del tutto naturale.

Il Treno coop. soc. e le sue iniziative

Da anni gli amici de Il Treno coop. soc. promuovono iniziative e progetti educativi in chiave ludica, volti all’apprendimento in parallelo di LIS e italiano e all’incontro con la diversità. La loro attenzione è da sempre rivolta anche a prodotti editoriali di grande valore, tra cui libri interattivi (Alice nel paese delle mani) e fumetti (Jean il sordo, La figlia di Jean). Nel 2017 si sono aggiudicati il Premio Andersen come “Miglior creazione digitale” con “Il signor G.” di Gustavo Roldán, nella versione ideata e coordinata da Giusi Cataldo, con la traduzione in LIS di Alessio Di Renzo. 

In questa seconda edizione della Rassegna delle letterature inclusive ci presenteranno la loro ultima graphic novel, scritta da Alessandra Marras, Armando Delfini, Giuseppe Maggiore e Valerio Paolucci, che ci presenta la figura di Antonio Magarotto, promotore e attivista dei diritti civili delle persone sorde: la sua storia, profondamente umana, è un esempio per tutte le persone che non accettano di essere messe da parte e che vogliono di più per loro e per le generazioni future.
